SCC Super Z Passenger Chain Clearance Specifications and Details

The SCC Super Z Passenger tire chain requires a minimum of 11 mm of clearance on the inside sidewall of the tire. While other obstructions may be present, the critical clearance area on most vehicles is the inside sidewall of the tire. This is where the tire comes closest to suspension components like springs, shocks, and struts, as well as brake lines. If you are unsure if your vehicle has the 11 mm of clearance to accommodate this chain, be sure to check your vehicle's owner's manual for more information.     The chains are easy to install and fit tight. Be sure to practice once before taking off - you can space the tight clips evenly around the tensioner so they are ready. The chains are rolled up together in the box, so spread them all the way out together and separate methodically. When attaching the tensioner, start at the top and pull down, it is easier than pulling up.

    I used these just a times last winter, but they did exactly what I wanted: good quality (I.e., not cable chains)chains that are easy-on/easy-off to help when traveling the mountain passes and skiing highways of Washington and Oregon. A great product. I'm satisfied.

    Chains performed exceptionally well over 4 days of use on a 45 mile rural mail route after a 9 inch snowfall and before the roads were able to be plowed. Never got stuck even pulling onto the shoulder out of the ruts in roadway.

    Visited Sequoia National Park where the snow was deep and chains were required. These chains were easy to install and performed well. I would recommend them to others.
